This week I’d like to talk about wedding gifts and how to judge if your choice of gift is appropriate. There are increasing pressures in the event of an expensive wedding to give a gift that reflects the money being spent on the event, and most of us start to feel this when we receive a personalised gilded invite complete with wedding list. The very basic rule that governs all gift etiquette tells us that we should buy a present that reflects the recipient’s place in our affections, not one that reflects property prices or status

It’s a boy!

My sincere apologies to my mother, who was holding out for a girl after already having 6 male grandchildren, but it looks like she’ll be having lucky number 7, because we’re having another boy! Amy’s only 14 weeks along right now, so we weren’t scheduled to get an ultrasound for another month or so. However, it seems events have transpired to allow us to find out sooner than expected. Early Wednesday morning around 3:00 am Amy woke up with some slight bleeding, which to any expecting woman is definitely not a good thing. We got hold of the on-call doctor who calmed our nerves a little bit, but still made sure we came in early that morning to check things out. They did an ultrasound to make sure the baby was moving, and he definitely was! He was stretching and kicking and smiling… not to mention showing off his wobbly bits. So we found out early. We haven’t quite decided on names yet, but we’re close.

Summer Fun

With the celebrations of May Day behind us, we are now finally entering the beginnings of the summer – and after last year’s washout let’s hope this year is a scorcher! Keeping all things summery in mind and crossing my fingers behind my back, I’m going to talk to you this week about the best ways in which to enjoy the sunshine with your loved ones. My favourite thing to do in the summer is take a picnic to a quiet spot somewhere with those I care about most and indulge them with gastronomic treats and bubbly drinks till the sun goes down.
