Progress:: Project #3, Hand Painted Family Sign

I’ve made a little progress on Project #3, the Hand Painted Family Sign, which will hang over the upholstered back of the banquette seat.I was first inspired to make a hand painted sign when I saw this one on The Lettered Cottage a few months back.I love the lettering on the sign, as well as the configuration of the main sign with a little sign connected underneath.I knew I wanted my sign to be a

Sunday Blessings

I snipped these pretty little blooms off of a bush in the courtyard this morning. The bees were diligently doing their work, but I thought they could spare a few for me. Some of them do look like their time on this earth is fading quickly, but they’re beautiful nonetheless.I hope you have a wonderfully blessed and relaxing Sunday.

Crafty Tute Tuesday:: Quilted Patchwork Throw

Well, time got away from me, and I didn’t have time to make the pillow I wanted to make for today’s tutorial. It’ll be coming up in the next couple of week. For now, I thought I’d go ahead and write up the tutorial for the patchwork quilted throw, since so many people seem to love these

Wall Treatment For My Home Office:: Trees Or Horizontal Stripes?

I didn’t get the quilted patchwork throw finished for my client this weekend. I did get the face of it finished, with all 56 rectangles sewed together. So far, this is my favorite throw I’ve made.

A Sneak Peek Of My Office (Because I’m Not Just About Kitchens!)

At times I think to myself…I would love to know what it’s like to have the type of personality where I start a project, and then FINISH the project, before moving on to the next project. Unfortunately, that’s just not me. I’ve never been that way, and I don’t foresee a personality change in the near future.

My Color Palette & A New Wall Color (Feel Free To Weigh In!)

This week, I’ve had a few people suggest that I choose a new wall color, such as apple green, and it occurred to me…I don’t think I’ve ever really shown y’all the direction I’m going with the whole color palette in my living room/dining area/kitchen. Perhaps if I showed you that, then you would understand why I will NOT be painting my walls apple green or any other color.

And The Winning Idea For My Kitchen Is…

The wainscoting, painted wall combo! When I was planning this kitchen makeover, I had originally planned on tiling the entire wall. Of course, at the time, I also thought my style was more modern. Let’s just say this whole thing has been an exercise in self-discovery.

My Kitchen/Dining Area Progress So Far (And Needing Your Input…Again!)

Last night, I FINALLY got my kitchen and dining area clean. After sanding and sawing for two weeks, it’s nice to finally have all of that dust cleaned up! And I can’t even express how excited I am to have my cabinet doors back on my cabinets. No more kitties crawling around and sleeping in my cabinets! I was FINALLY able to wash out the cabinets, wash all of my dishes, and put them away.

Have You Visited Your Local ReStore Lately?

If your answer is “no”, then you could be missing out on some real treasures! Yesterday, I decided to go have a look around. I wasn’t really needing to purchase anything, but it had been a while since I’ve been there, and I was just curious to see what they had. I spent an hour-and-a-half just walking around, perusing the various offerings, and wishing I had money just to blow.

Beautiful, Colorful Chandeliers (and a Sneak Peek Of My Glass Chandelier)

For me, it all started with this picture:Of course, I’m talking about my obsession with bright, colorful chandeliers. I don’t know where I first spotted that photo, but I blogged about it two years ago here, so as you can see, this is not a new obsession for me.And I’m not picky…it can be a spray-painted flea market find, or a gorgeous (and obscenely expensive) Murano glass chandelier.

Kitchen Cabinet Door Transformation:: Hit Or Miss?

After spending my weekend working on my kitchen, I can finally show you the result of the kitchen cabinet door transformation. I know…it’s taken me FOREVER to finish, and you’ve probably even forgotten about it! In fact, the painting is STILL not finished!! At one point this weekend, I was certain that I was nearing completion with painting my doors, so I stopped and counted. I still had

Grand Ideas:: And A Tale Of Very Brave Clients

I very often challenge my clients with my suggestions for their homes. Generally, my most challenging suggestions are met with blank stares, looks of shock and horror, or a polite response like, “Well, that may be a bit much for us.”But sometimes…SOMETIMES…I have the great fortune of meeting homeowners who welcome my suggestions, no matter how challenging they are, and actually follow
