For all the Sun City Hilton Head residents concerned about golf course assessments, please take a minute to read Article 1.11 of the covenants, conditions and restrictions for the definition of our common areas, and see for yourself that it specifically includes the golf courses. Then read Article 5.1 for the association’s responsibility to maintain those common areas and see that all maintenance, repair and replacement costs are to be allocated among all lots. The golf courses have not been excluded.

I spent last weekend at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk. The experience completely restored my faith in festivals. I went to V a few years back and decided there that my festival-going days were behind me. It wasn’t really a festival at all — just an enormous gig. A festival, to me, is not just about which big-name acts are playing. I need some peace and love — a sense that people have left their anxieties and aggression at the gate and bought into a three-day idyll.

Almost exactly 30 years ago, in the summer of 1979, an IRA double ambush killed 18 British soldiers near the town of Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland. Among them was the commanding officer of the Queens Own Highlanders, Lieutenant-Colonel David Blair. It was the worst single incident during a campaign that lasted nearly two decades and cost more than 700 military lives.

Happy birthday to us…. OC Watchdog is one year old!

We launched OC Watchdog  (on the backs of dead dogs, as our colleagues at Total Buzz so succinctly noted) one year ago this week .
