Mother Nature Working In Garden Wedding Favors or Asian Wedding Favors

When people hear of a garden wedding, the first image that appears in their heads is a backyard or a park, with a plethora of plants as decorations. Of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having an outdoor wedding, or even using plants as decorations. The idea, however, is to make the wedding look like a natural paradise and not the garden section of the local big box store.

What You Need To Know About Giving A Bridegroom Speech

by Amy Bartlett Now that the time is fast approaching and your wedding day is just around the corner, it is time you sat down and put some thought into your bridegroom speech that you need to give at the reception. Tradition for most cultures dictates that the bridegroom gives his speech right after that of the father of the bride, so you should have something in mind that you would like to say and just how much you want to include. Most importantly the biggest factor in any speech is the op

Nasty cuts or nice cuts, there will be blood

A few weeks ago an extraordinary meeting took place that could determine the future of public spending in this country. The venue was a white stuccoed house in Carlton Gardens. The chairman was Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary. Under discussion was whether drastic cuts in expenditure — of up to 20 per cent — will be needed to tackle the spiralling deficit. In the room were senior officials from across Whitehall and Conservative frontbenchers — but not a single minister.

Birthday number 44

They come around once a year and they are absolutely unavoidable…birthdays I mean.  Mine happens to be today but I’m not a big birthday celebration person.  Gifts are terrific but not necessary.  Certainly not expected.  This year though G. decided to get me a bike.  I love cruisers.  No gears to mess with – if you’re shifting gears you’re probably workin’ too hard.  Or at least I am.  More often than not, now that I’m out of my sports competitive-ness years, a pleasant bike ride sounds like a

Preening populism has put us off democracy

Each to his own: you don’t go to Sir Alan Sugar for advice on diplomacy or plead with me to teach you breakdancing. And you wouldn’t, on the whole, go to Bernie Ecclestone for philosophical insight and mature historical reflection. Deafened by the vroom-vrooming of his horrid sport, wreathed in petrol fumes for 60 years and blinded by his billions, that strange, wizened little figure has generally stuck to what he knows: motors and money. Sure, he dazzled Tony Blair with his millions, but who didn’t?

Britain: a refuge for the unspeakably evil

What is it about arresting people for war crimes that the Government doesn’t like? After Iraq, you’d think an administration that may be in legacy mode would want to stamp some late-term legitimacy on its 12 years in office. But rumours are growing in Whitehall that Jack Straw is about to turn his back on bringing suspected mass murderers to justice in UK courts. Apparently ministers think it would be too expensive, or that it might offend our allies.

Costly, inefficient failures. Who needs them?

Cutting the size of government is now the only game in town — at least, for those who would like to prevent taxes rising to the point that there becomes little point in working or saving. Unless spending is put on a sharply declining path, the UK faces a decade of persistent deficits, stagnant growth and a steady loss of leadership to other, better founded economies across the globe.

How to tweet

‘Twitter Power: How to Dominate Your Market One Tweet at a Time’ By Joel Comm, 272 pages, $24.95 Since 2006, forward-thinking companies like Apple, JetBlue, Whole Foods and GM have discovered the instant benefits of leveraging the social media phenomenon known as Twitter to reach consumers directly, build their brand, and increase sales. Twitter is at the leading edge of the social media movement, allowing members to connect with one another in real time via short text messages-called “tweets”-that can be received either via the Twitter site or by e-mail, instant messenger, or cell phone. Many companies have started building entire teams within their organization dedicated solely to responding to tweets from consumers about their brand
