Brown awaits reshuffle response

BBC Online Gordon Brown is waiting to see whether his limited cabinet reshuffle has served to quell unrest among Labour MPs after a tumultuous week for the party. The prime minister responded to a string of ministerial resignations and a “painful” English elections drubbing by vowing: “I will not walk away.” Labour is bracing itself for Sunday’s European election results. Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw said he hoped Labour activists would give MPs the message to “rally round” Brown

Karnaphuli dying: Industrial, clinical wastes blamed

UNB, Dhaka The Karnaphuli River, considered as the lifeline to business activities for both the hill people and the flatlanders in the country’s far east region, is dying due to mindless encroachment, dumping of industrial and clinical wastes, and lack of maintenance. Encroachment of the river banks, unabated dumping of industrial, clinical and human wastes, unplanned fishing, unchecked oil spill from oceangoing vessels and mechanized boats have severely polluted the river. “The river has been desecrated

Susan Boyle is the victim of a new, toxic kind of fame

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has now left the Priory, where she ended up last weekend after displaying “erratic” behaviour. The police were called following an incident at her hotel; she was taken to the clinic shortly afterwards where she was treated for “exhaustion”. It seemed that Boyle, 48, who has learning difficulties that were caused when she was deprived of oxygen during birth, had finally cracked.

Delta Children’s Products Vintage Chic Jenny Lind Changing Table in Oak

Delta Children’s Products Vintage Chic Jenny Lind Changing Table in Oak With its turned legs and rails, this oak-lacquered, all-wood changing table looks like it belongs in the corner of an old-fashioned country kitchen more than in a modern nursery. But even if Mom doesn’t wear lace-fringed gingham skirts or the house is steel-and-glass modern, this is a practical piece of baby furniture. Two large shelves provide ample storage for diapers and other paraphernalia.

The Young and the Restless Recap For Week Ending 06-05-09: Part 1 (”How ironic that a character as vibrant and unpredictable as Phyllis would have a son as boring and annoying as Daniel. Short of his introduction and involvement in the death of Cassie (did you know it was the anniversary of her death last week?), this punk has been responsible for many of the biggest yawns and worst excuses for storylines this show has ever seen. Enough of the art shit. Enough of the photography shit. Enough of the Amber pairing. Enough of the tattoos on his skinny, hairless body. Enough of the radical hair-don’ts. Enough of the questionable hygiene. Enough, enough, enough! Either make him a chip off the old Phyllis Summers block or send his skinny ass packing” Edition)

Thanks to the bugging devices he’s placed around the ranch, the pocket Newman eavesdrops on The Moustache and Dr. Braun who are discussing the best approach to getting to the bottom of Ashley’s problems

surprise mi!

As you know, my skin allergies have been documented (complained about?) in several posts; the upside of being allergic to everything metal/makeup/cleaning-producty is that the stuff I’ve been putting on my body recently is a lot better for me than the vats of chemicals I used to rely on.  And it’s led me to companies like mi SPA , which are creating delicious, effective, paraben-free products that people like me can use without fear of turning into a strawberry marshmallow. Bonus points for disclosing all ingredients, and including a detailed ingredient glossary on their site

Surprise! Many of Our Readers are Virgins: The KSK Fantasy Sex/Football Mailbag

We’ve got a special treat today, readers.  Not one, not two, but THREE emails about people who have survived into their mid-twenties with their virginity intact.  I know what you’re thinking: Whoa!  There are die-hard football fans who consult a toilet-humor blog for sex advice that AREN’T popular with the ladies?  Welp, it’s true, and it’s all after the jump — along with quests for threesomes, foursomes, and getting gays to play for the other team.  As usual, very few people display the ability

Frugal Living For The Not-So-Frugal

I’ve had a lot of questions lately pop into my inbox from new readers that found this site searching for frugality topics out of necessity, not necessarily desire.  With the economic climate in the US such as it is, sometimes people are making the choice to be frugal as self preservation , not as a desired lifestyle choice. And I can completely relate to that.  Although I enjoy trying to be frugal with what I have and find ways to cut or eliminate expenses, it wasn’t always this way.  I never

The Bible Is Not God’s Word

The Bible is not the “Word of God”; it is not “inerrant” nor “divinely-inspired”, except in the same sense that any book can be said to be inspired by its subject. That’s a statement you’ve probably heard in some form or other fairly often, at least if you live in a Western or Western-ized country; one of the unique traits of this latest century is that it does not lack for atheists and agnostics
